The Hillsboro Lions Club has recently collaborated with the Hillsboro City Library to enhance educational opportunities for local children. This new program involves the creation and distribution of Adventure Backpacks, which children can now borrow using their library cards.
To build this program, the Lions Club successfully raised over $1,000, enabling the assembly of 18 Adventure Backpacks. Each backpack is designed to offer a diverse range of educational experiences and activities. Topics covered include fishing, coding, cooking, native plants and wildlife, bird watching, music, geology, astronomy, and flower pressing, among others. This variety aims to engage and educate children in multiple areas of interest.
The Adventure Backpacks were assembled by Lions Club members and their families during the Club's annual Family Day luncheon, held on Tuesday, August 6. Following the event, the backpacks were donated to the Hillsboro City Library and are now available for checkout.
Individuals interested in borrowing an Adventure Backpack must possess a Hillsboro Library card. Those who do not yet have a library card may apply for one either in person at the library or online. Please note that proof of address is required to obtain a library card.
The Hillsboro City Library is located at 118 South Waco Street. For additional information regarding the Adventure Backpacks program or other children's programs offered by the library, please visit the library's website at hillsborotxlibrary.org or contact the library directly at (254) 582-7385.
The Hillsboro Lions Club is a service organization that focuses on service projects that enhance the quality of life for residents in the State, Hill County, and Hillsboro. The Hillsboro Lions Club does this by supporting the Texas Lions Camp, performing vision screenings in Hill County schools and through projects such as the ADA playground recently built at Hillsboro City Park. For more information about the Hillsboro Lions Club and its activities, interested persons are encouraged to join the Lions at their weekly noon meeting for lunch and fellowship at the First Methodist Church’s Family Life Center.
